Dr. Ronald D. Barton
Dr. Ronald D. Barton is an anointed preacher, musician, gifted vocalist and
songwriter. He has preached extensively across the United States as well as internationally. Dr.Barton was born in
Greenville, South Carolina . He is the youngest of seven children born to Mr. and Mrs. Willis F. (Mary Louise) Barton.
After graduating from Berea High School, Dr. Barton enrolled into Morris College of Sumter, South Carolina were he earned a Bachelor of
Arts degree in Social Studies, as well graduating Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Divinity degree. Pastor Barton also received a Doctor of Divinity degree from Morris College.
Reverend Barton started preaching at the early age of fifteen at the Shady Oak Baptist Church. He received his license
from Shady Oak, and went on to pastor the Central Baptist Church of Columbia , SC for seven years. In March of 1990, the proud son of
Shady Oak returned to pastor his home church were he has proudly served for the past seventeen years. Under the leadership of Dr. Barton
the membership at Shady Oak has grown tremendously. Shady Oak today has well over nine hundred members with more than fifty holistic ministries serving the complete person.
In April of 2003, Pastor Barton led the congregation into a new state of the art worship center and administrative complex. Plans are underway for the construction of
the Shady Oak Baptist Church Community Empowerment Center . This mega campus will be home to the Community Empowerment project, the Shady Oak Baptist Church Faith Dome, which will seat two thousand two hundred worshippers, a video production studio, a day care
center, an educational complex, and administrative suites.
Dr. Barton is currently a member of the Reedy River Baptist Association were he has served as Dean o f the Reedy River Congress of Christian Education. He is
a member of the Baptist Education and Missionary Convention of South Carolina, a member of the Baptist Ministers Fellowship of Greenville, SC and surrounding areas, a member of the Board of Evangelism of
the Progressive National Baptist Convention Inc, and a proud member of the nominating committee at Hampton University Minister's Conference. Among the many accomplishments of Dr. Barton, he published one of
his fine sermons in the book "Outstanding Black Sermons, Volume 4", by Judson Press. Pastor Barton can be seen in "Building Your Life Through The Word",
a television outreach broadcast ministry produced by the Shady Oak Baptist Church on Charter Cable Channel #10 (check your local listings for times). |
